Watershed Definition
So what is a Watershed? It is an area of land that we live in, such as San Diego, California (area labeled 1807 on the map). It is an area of land that drains or “sheds” water into a specific waterbody, in this case the San Luis Rey River draining into the Pacific Ocean.
Everyone relies on water and other natural resources to exist. What we and others do on the land impacts the quality and quantity of water and our other natural resources. Understanding our watershed is the first step in protecting the water and other natural resources.
